Frequently Asked Questions
We are a student-run nonprofit dedicated to bringing warmth and wellness to our communities. We facilitate events with senior homes where residents crochet and/or knit with us, making essential clothing items that we then donate to homeless shelters.
Anyone can join Stitching Hope! If you are interested in volunteering or starting your own chapter, just fill out our form, and we'll contact you! No experience required, just patience, empathy, and dedication to serving your community.
Definitely not! While it is a valuable asset, you do not need to know crochet to join. We will host training sessions for volunteers to learn to crochet, so you can teach senior residents and create your own projects. If you'd like, you can learn and practice on your own too!
No, though our events mainly specialize in teaching crochet, you don't have to limit yourself to just crocheting! If you can knit, feel free to do so alongside crocheting, and if a senior at an event already knows how to, let them knit! Whichever way is more enjoyable and allows you and/or residents to create donatable items is okay.
